The ascension to true power among the Darkstar race is a path that is not for the weak. It is fraught with pain, suffering and death. For those strong enough to ascend to the rank of Eternal and be honored with the title of Lady or Sire, ultimate power is practically guaranteed.
The Disciple
The first rank any Darkstar receives is that of the Disciple. From birth, all Darkstars are initiates of the Darkness. At a certain age, those Born of the Darkness are given the rank of Disciple and are apprenticed to a dark master who sets them on the path to ascension. Those who are strong enough to survive their master’s training naturally ascend to the rank of Adept.
The Adept
The Darkstar Adept is one who is a highly skilled and well-trained individual. The Adept has survived their master’s arduous training and is thereafter assigned to a Liege for field combat, which can consist of various engagements and selective missions throughout the universe. After many millennium, the Darkstar Adept’s hands on battle experience coupled with higher level training prepares the Adept for ascension to the rank of Liege.
The Liege
The second highest rank for a Darkstar is the designation of Liege. A Dark Liege is one who dwells within the Darkness and has earned enough experience in battle to become a teacher in their own right. A Dark Liege is characterized by strength, prudence and the ability to follow orders without fail. Lieges who have fought in many engagements and have honed their skills to near perfection are then assigned an Adept to shadow them. A Dark Liege’s true success comes when they have successfully trained enough Adepts to the ascension of Liege. When a Liege truly embraces the Darkness, they ascend to the level of Eternal.
Dark Eternal
A Darkstar Dark Eternal is the highest and most powerful rank of the Darkstars and is considered an immortal who is absolutely consumed with the Darkness of the universe. A Dark Eternal has mastered Celestial hand to hand combat arts, weaponry, the universal elements and the dark powers of the universe. It is said that once you reach the level of Dark Eternal, your true training can begin. The Dark Eternal’s knowledge is only second to that of one who is given a title by the Dark Architects.
The council of Dark Architects
The title of Sire or Lady is given only to Dark Eternals who possess extraordinary power and knowledge. These are the Darkstars who become members of the council of Dark Architects, the ruling order that controls the Darkstar race. These individuals are considered to be so powerful that they have the ability to bend the rules of the universe in their favor. Some so powerful that they have even committed such acts as being able to resurrect themselves from death. Among these famed Darkstars are Lady Fury, Sire Death, Sire Magnus, Sire Vengeance and Lady Darkness to name a few of the many.
Symbols of power
When rising through the ranks, a Darkstar’s physical features change through the act of ascension. The same holds true with the Celestial garments they wear. The robes of Darkstars are attuned to their rank and reflect their rise to power. The higher the rank of the wearer, the more extravagant the robe will be. The robes are actual extensions of their wearer. For example, Sire Death’s robes are smoky and cindered, raining ash that falls to the ground. While Sire Magnus’s robes are flowing magma that heats the air and scorches the surface around him.
